Tips for accurate text

Take the photo straight on, in good light, with the page filling the frame. Crop away the table and background first with Crop Image. Printed text reads far better than handwriting.

Each result shows a confidence score. Below about 60% the photo is usually blurry, tilted or too small.

Can it read handwriting?

Neat block letters sometimes work, but OCR is built for printed text. Joined handwriting is usually not recognised well.

Can I extract text from a scanned PDF?

Yes. Add the PDF and every page is read in turn. For PDFs that already contain text, Extract Text from PDF is faster and exact.

Why is the first run slower?

The reader and language data download once, then they are cached, so later runs start quickly and even work offline.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. 108pdf processes this file inside your browser using your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers, so there is nothing to delete afterwards and nothing that can leak.
